Scott Russell received the Professional Excellence Award.
The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV) has presented Sutton Group–Seafair Realty real estate agent and broker/owner, K. Scott Russell, with the Professional Excellence Award.
The Professional Excellence Award is the highest honor bestowed in the real estate profession. The award honors real estate professionals whose careers, year after year, have embodied integrity, knowledge, ethics, leadership, community service and mentorship.
Russell operates Sutton Group–Seafair Realty offices in Delta, Tsawwassen and Richmond. Throughout his more than 40 year career, Russell has supported and mentored hundreds of real estate brokers and agents.
“Scott has been a consistent advocate for high standards, professionalism and mentorship throughout his career,” said REBGV President Daniel John. “His legacy of service coupled with his caring personality has left a positive mark on the profession and the community he has served for decades.”
Russell served as president of REBGV in 2009 after several years of volunteering as a director. Prior to that, he served on the ethics and arbitration committees of the REBGV. In 2015, he led the BC Real Estate Association as President after serving four years on its board.
“It was a good run, and I could only get to where I am today with the support of my family, friends and colleagues,” he said. “So many people have helped me so much and I’m really trying to pay it forward with the next generation of real estate agents.
“I’ve always followed the rule of camping: leave everything you touch a little better than when you found it. To receive an award like this is very humbling and I know we are in good hands as we have so many great young colleagues doing amazing work.
From his local office, his team has raised over $370,000 over 20 years for the Steveston Community Center. He is a strong supporter of REALTORS Care® Blanket Drive, offering his office as a drop-off location for over 15 years.
He also volunteered in youth sports as a hockey and baseball coach in Ladner and Richmond, serving on the executive of the Ladner Minor Baseball Association for many years.
“Integrity defines Scott Russell. His constant drive to keep up with current trends and the many changing rules and regulations in the real estate business has long made him a ‘go-to broker’ to mentor, support and lead others in our profession,” said Jake Moldowan, former president of the REBGV.
