A Kissimmee realtor who claims to sell vacation homes near Walt Disney World is accused of storming the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, federal court documents show.
Matthew Montalvo, 45, was reportedly seen entering the Capitol around 2:30 p.m. wearing a black coat and tan backpack among a crowd of rioters who tried to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s presidential victory over the then-President Donald Trump – an attack that left five people dead, including a Capitol police officer.
Montalvo was arrested Tuesday in Kissimmee and faces federal charges of entering a restricted building; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building; disorderly conduct in a capitol building; and parading, demonstrating or picketing a Capitol building.
Federal authorities said surveillance footage and body camera video show Montalvo traversing the second floor of the Capitol for more than 25 minutes.
He was investigated after a Federal Bureau of Investigation task force officer obtained cellphone records from Verizon through a search warrant that records Montalvo using his phone from the Capitol. during the uprising.
Witness testimony also claims Montalvo admitted to walking around the US Capitol with others opposing the 2020 election results, according to court records.
He is the latest in a growing list of Central Florida residents accused of storming the Capitol, including two former Central Florida police officers, a Sanford firefighter, a Treasure Coast charter boat captain , a Melbourne high school teacher and Orlando actor who played Judas in an American tour of the Broadway smash hit “Jesus Christ Superstar.”
